Wigan Warriors make Junior Nsemba call as squad named for Challenge Cup clash versus Wakefield Trinity

Wakefield Trinity and Wigan Warriors have confirmed their 21-man squads for Sunday’s Challenge Cup tie, with the visitor’s making a call on Junior Nsemba after he limped off in the defeat to St Helens.

Nsemba suffered an ankle injury in last Friday’s derby clash but head coach Matt Peet confirmed during the week that the second-row forward was a ‘chance’ of playing in Sunday’s cup tie.

Peet also revealed that prop forward Ethan Havard had been sat down for the tie because despite initially passing a head injury assessment, the club reviewed the footage and decided to put him through HIA protocol.

Whilst Wigan enter Sunday’s game off the back of two defeats, Wakefield enter having won their last five games with Trinity boasting the best defence in Super League.

Both clubs have now confirmed their 21-man squads for Sunday’s clash, which can be viewed live on BBC One with the draw for the Challenge Cup semi-finals set to be made at half-time.

Wakefield Trinity team news

Wakefield make just one change to the 21-man squad they had named for last week’s meeting with Castleford Tigers, as Caius Faatili drops out and is replaced by Jayden Myers.

Faatili had missed last Sunday’s game anyway due to a knock and he’s been unable to recover from it, meaning he drops out with the winger Myers his replacement.

Jazz Tevaga is named after being rotated last week whilst Daryl Powell will still have the headache of Jack Sinfield or Mason Lino, with the latter making an impressive return last week.

Wakefield Trinity 21-man squad: Max Jowitt, Oliver Pratt, Cameron Scott, Corey Hall, Tom Johnstone, Jake Trueman, Mason Lino, Mike McMeeken, Tyson Smoothy, Ky Rodwell, Seth Nikotemo, Matty Storton, Jazz Tevaga, Jay Pitts, Caleb Hamlin-Uele, Harvey Smith, Isaiah Vagana, Jack Sinfield, Jayden Myers, Josh Rourke, Tray Lolesio

Wigan Warriors team news

Matt Peet makes just one change to his 21-man squad from last week with Ethan Havard sat down after his head knock and replaced by hooker Tom Forber, who has returned from his loan at Castleford Tigers.

It means Junior Nsemba has been named to the 21-man squad and could be set to feature despite last week’s ankle injury. Should Nsemba not pass fit then it could be that Liam Farrell returns to the second-row and Dayon Sambou takes on a position in the backline. Alternatively, Wigan have a number of other forwards available in their squad.

Wigan Warriors 21-man squad: Jai Field, Zach Eckersley, Adam Keighran, Liam Marshall, Harry Smith, Brad O’Neill, Luke Thompson, Junior Nsemba, Liam Farrell, Kaide Ellis, Sam Walters, Patrick Mago, Oliver Partington, Jack Farrimond, Sam Eseh Jr, Tom Forber, Kian McDermott, Taylor Kerr, Lukas Mason, Noah Hodkinson, Dayon Sambou
