Wigan Warriors boss Matt Peet has given an injury update following Bevan French’s absence in their game against Castleford Tigers.
French was left out of the side that secured a late victory over the Tigers on Saturday night, and the Wigan coach shared that they will be without him for a substantial period of time.
The halfback played with the knock last week, but it looks like it’s now a more serious injury than initially thought, as he’s set to miss the next two months.
Speaking in his post-match interview, Peet shared that although he’s an integral part of their team, he’s excited to hand youngster Jack Farrimond the chance to play alongside Harry Smith in the halves.
He said: “Bevan’s out for a decent chunk now, it’s going to be eight weeks. It’s a calf strain in a similar but different area.
“It’s a shame for Bevan as he’s one of the outstanding players in the competition, but he’s focused pretty quickly.
“It’s great opportunity now for Jack to play and train knowing he’s going to get a run of games.”

Winger Liam Marshall was named on the starting teamsheet, but by game time, he was replaced by youngster Jacob Douglas.
Speaking about Marshall, the Wigan Warriors boss said: “He banged his ankle last Friday, and although there was no structural damage, it was swollen.
“We thought all week he’d recover, but in the warm-up, he didn’t feel as free as he needed to be.
“We knew Jacob was ready and waiting, so we weren’t going to push or take a risk.
“Hopefully, he heals quickly, but there won’t be anything long-term.”
The Warriors next face high-flying Leigh Leopards away from home before a string of home games against Huddersfield Giants, Hull FC and Catalans Dragons.
