Wigan Warriors hooker Tom Forber leaves on season-long loan switch

Wigan Warriors hooker Tom Forber has left the club on a season-long loan move as he looks to gain valuable minutes.

Forber, 23, has already had time away from Wigan on loan this season with the hooker featuring for Castleford Tigers and Barrow Raiders, however, he’s now joined Oldham on a deal until the end of the year.

The hooker has played just five times for Wigan in 2026 and not since May when he was named in the heavily rotated Warriors side that took on Hull KR just before the Challenge Cup Final.

Across his career, Forber has played 23 times for Wigan, including in the 2024 Grand Final win against Hull KR but Brad O’Neill has dominated the starting hooker role and often plays 80 minutes.

As such, Forber has now sought out game time on loan with Championship high flyers Oldham, who are currently on a 14-game winning streak in the second division.

Tom Forber leaves Wigan Warriors on loan

Announcing his signing via social media, Oldham confirmed that Forber would remain at the club until the end of the year with his addition a much-needed one given some of the players that the Roughyeds have lost to Super League clubs.

Head coach Alan Kilshaw said: “We’re really pleased to bring in Tom Forber, with Cole (Geyer) and Riley (Dean) leaving we have been a little bit light in the spine.

“We have been very grateful to Warrington in getting Ben Hartill and Daniel Regan last week but now we have someone who will be with us every week.

“He is very popular among the playing group from his performances last season, and I know the supporters will welcome this announcement as well.

“I am looking forward to working with him and seeing him in an Oldham shirt.”
