Wigan Warriors make Jai Field replacement call as Super League team news confirmed

Wigan Warriors

Wigan Warriors will play star man Bevan French at full-back this evening in the absence of Jai Field.

Field is set for a 4-6 week stint on the sidelines after suffering with appendicitis. The Australian is one of many first-choice full-backs across Super League to be struck with injury.

French is accustomed to the number one role, having played there 40 times throughout his Wigan career. The recent seasons has seen him move to the halves, where he has become one of the most lethal players in the league, and he will be hoping to continue that form today as the Warriors travel to Toulouse Olympique.

French’s positional switch means that Jack Farrimond gets a shot at half-back. The 20-year-old is unlucky to only have 19 Wigan appearances to his name, given how talented he is, but with French and Harry Smith in front of him, there aren’t many partnerships in the game that are better than those two.

Matt Peet remains unchanged for the rest of the 13, as he looks to keep consistent in team selections. Taylor Kerr comes in for his Wigan debut, replacing Tom Forber on the bench. The youngster made his first Super League appearance last season on loan at Salford Red Devils.

For Toulouse, they welcome back Romeo Tropis into the side, after he missed last week’s game with concussion. Tyler Dupree also misses out against his parent club after suffering a knock in defeat to Bradford last week. Jake Shorrocks comes in for his first appearance of the year.

Toulouse Olympique: Olly Ashall-Bott, Benjamin Laguerre, Romeo Tropis, Reubenn Rennie, Luke Polselli, Thomas Lacans, Jake Shorrocks, Lambert Belmas, Brendan Hands, Rob Butler, Mathieu Jussaume, AJ Wallace, Anthony Marion

Bench: Joe Cator, Joe Bretherton, James Roumanos, Hugo Garrigues

Wigan Warriors: Bevan French, Zach Eckersley, Adam Keighran, Liam Farrell, Liam Marshall, Jack Farrimond, Harry Smith, Ethan Havard, Brad O’Neill, Luke Thompson, Junior Nsemba, Sam Walters, Kaide Ellis

Bench: Patrick Mago, Oliver Partington, Sam Eseh, Taylor Kerr

Super League team news confirmed for St Helens v Bradford Bulls

Elsewhere tonight, St Helens take on Bradford Bulls for the first time since 2014.

Paul Rowley has a depleted side as it stands, with the likes of Jack Welsby, Alex Walmsley, Matty Lees and Jonny Lomax all unavailable through injury.

Walmsley featured in last week’s win over Catalans, but an ankle injury has ruled him out for around six weeks. George Delaney joins the starting line-up in his place.

George Whitby partners Jackson Hastings in the halves, meaning Tristan Sailor goes to full-back and Nene MacDonald moves to the centre.

Kyle Feldt will be looking to continue his 2026 try-scoring streak. The winger has scored in every game so far this year, and sits on seven tries in all competitions.

For Bradford, Kurt Haggerty has made just one change this week, with Sam Hallas replacing Mitch Souter on the bench.

St Helens: Tristan Sailor, KyleFeldt, Nene MacDonald, Deon Cross, Lewis Murphy, Jackson Hastings, George Whitby, David Klemmer, Daryl Clark, George Delaney, Curtis Sironen, Shane Wright, Joe Shorrocks
