Yesterday, Bradford Bulls confirmed their first recruit for 2027, with Wigan Warriors forward Sam Eseh joining the club.
Eseh, who a Yorkshire junior after coming through the system at Wakefield Trinity, has inked a three-year deal to stay at Odsal until the end of 2029.
A former Hull FC and Leeds Rhinos loanee, Eseh has made 30 Super League appearances, and in 2022 was named the Championship Young Player of the Year after an excellent spell on loan at Featherstone Rovers.
The 6’3 22-year-old is the latest piece of recruitment announced by the Bulls ahead of 2027, with contract extensions being handed to Caleb Aekins, Connor Wynne and Joe Mellor in recent weeks.
Following his signing confirmation, Bulls boss Kurt Haggerty has revealed why the club opted for Eseh, citing some of the forward’s key attributes as reasons for why they brought him in.
“First of all, having met him a couple of times, he’s a fantastic young man,” Haggerty said via the Bulls’ website. “He’s big, he’s athletic, he’s aggressive and he suits everything we want as a middle for the Bradford Bulls.
“He’s been at some fantastic clubs, the likes of Hull, Wakefield and Wigan in particular, so he’s coming from good stock and he’s got a good pedigree. He’s ultra professional and I’m sure he’s going to come into our environment and thrive even more.
“There’s still a lot of coaching in Sam, he seems very coachable when I’ve spoken to him and he understands it is exciting the way that we play rugby. We think there’s a couple of parts of his game that we can help him unlock, so he’s going to be a really exciting player for the Bradford Bulls.”
