Castleford Tigers signings Tyler Dupree and Phoenix Laulu-Togaga’e’s first words after pair make Super League switch

Castleford Tigers will be hoping that two of their latest signings will make an instant impact, after bringing in two new recruits this week.

Tyler Dupree has ended his loan spell at Toulouse Olympique early, and has departed Wigan Warriors, to sign a long-term contract at the West Yorkshire outfit.

It’s fair to say that in 2025 and 2026, Dupree’s best form hasn’t been on show, but with a new club and a new drive, that could be about to change.

The Ex-Salford man is a former England international, and he will be hoping to rekindle some of those performances that earned him those honours back in 2023 and 2024.

“The move to ‘Cas’ came about pretty quick, to be honest,” Dupree said as he explained his mid-season switch.

“It was an opportunity that felt right for me at this stage of my career, and once I spoke to the staff and understood the direction the club’s heading in, it was an easy decision.

Revealing what he wants to achieve in the amber and black, he said: “What excites me most is the real ambition the club holds and the strong identity and history it has.

“The fans are class and there’s a big passion around the club, which you want as a player.

“I’m looking forward to getting stuck in, contributing to the team, and hopefully achieving something special here.”

Also arriving at Wheldon Road this week was Phoenix Laulu-Togaga’e, who joins the club from Catalans Dragons.

‘PLT’ only joined Les Dracs at the start of this season, moving from Hull KR, but after nine rounds he has departed to sign a three-and-a-half-year deal.

The son of former Tiger, Quentin, can play all across the back line, and has slotted in at positions one to seven through his career.

Revealing what is motivating him to succeed in Ryan Carr’s side, the speedster said: “I’m really excited to be joining Cas.

“It’s great to be back home and closer to my family, and following in my dad’s footsteps playing for this club.

“Personally, I just want to bring energy and hard work in everything that I do.

“I’ll always give 100% and hopefully add something to the group, both on and off the field.”
