Warrington Wolves young gun ‘itching’ for return as injury timeline revealed and ‘freak’ NRL signing praised

Warrington Wolves’ Arron Lindop has revealed where he’s at in his injury recovery after suffering an ACL injury last season.

Unfortunately for Warrington, Lindop wasn’t the only player to suffer an ACL in 2025 with Matty Ashton and Oli Leyland both falling foul to the same injury, which has a typical recovery time of nine months or more.

That news was confirmed back in June, though Lindop has confirmed that he’s six months removed from the operation, meaning the 19-year-old is looking at a spring return.

“All going well, I’m six months post-operation so it’s going to be three or four months, potentially, left,” he said on the Warrington Wolves YouTube channel.

“By April or May, I hopefully will be back in a shirt.”

Whilst all the hype around a new season surrounds him, Lindop admitted that it’s been tough due to the fact he isn’t training on the field yet, however, he spoke on the unity at the club.

Lindop explained: “It’s a bit tough because I’m not out on the field but being around the boys, we’re all connected and we’re all on the same wavelength.”

Warrington Wolves’ NRL recruits praised

Whilst Lindop may have to wait a few months for his playing return, Wire will likely start the season with a number of young player vying for spots with the club winning the Academy Grand Final in 2025 and a number of those players progressing to the first team.

On that path existing, Lindop said: “Being a young lad coming through and seeing all your mates come up from the reserves, people who you have played academy and scholarship with, then now you’re in the first team together. It’s something quite special.”

Whilst Wire have brought through plenty of homegrown talent, they’ve also recruited well from overseas with Lindop hailing their three additions including outside back Albert Hopoate, the ex-Canberra Raiders man that Lindop described as a ‘freak’.

Lindop revealed: “I’ve got a car share where I pick up Hoppa (Albert Hopoates), Sips (Toafofoa Sipley) and Smithy (Josh Smith) in the morning and they’re all great lads. They’ve all settled in and all the boys love them, I can’t wait to see them rip in.

“All three have done so well back home and they’re here to show what they’re capable of. Hoppa is just recovered from an ACL injury but you can see that he’s a bit of a freak. I can’t wait to see him play, same with the other two.”

What next for Arron Lindop

As for himself and his goals, he noted: “I’m just focused on getting back now, I’m itching now and just want to get back with the boys but when I get back, I just want to put my best foot forward. I want to get back, get confident, get a bit of consistency then hopefully next season (2027) get a starting spot and rip in from there.”

Following  a disappointing 2025 where the Wolves failed to make the play-offs, Lindop insisted that all at Warrington are keen to avenge that with ‘consistency’ being a major point of focus in pre-season.

He said: “Players and staff all included, we all know that last season wasn’t good enough so I think a big thing this season that we’ve hit down on is consistency, be it gym, field or day to day life.

“Last season, we came short a little bit but if we can flip those results into wins and be consistent then hopefully we’ll go well.”
