Warrington Wolves v St Helens teams confirmed as Paul Wellens makes back switch

St Helens boss Paul Wellens on the sidelines

Sam Burgess has made just one change to his Warrington Wolves line-up to take on St Helens this evening. The Wolves will be looking to get back to winning ways tonight following last weekend’s loss to Leigh Leopards and Burgess has kept changes to a minimum.

The Wolves head coach has given Danny Walker the nod in the halves once more to play alongside Marc Sneyd. Warrington are without George Williams and Walker is deemed to be the best replacement stand off option at Burgess’ disposal.

That means Sam Powell stays at hooker, as expected with the only change coming on the bench as fit again James Harrison replaces Max Wood.

With Joe Batchelor dropping out of the St Helens fold, Paul Wellens was guaranteed to make at least one change to his side. Again, he has kept changes to a minimum, though, with Matt Whitley taking up that back-row spot, which opens the door for Dayon Sambou to play in the back line alongside Jon Bennison.

Daryl Clark starts in a change that sees Moses Mbye moved to the bench, while Noah Stephens is the only new name in the 17, with the youngster on the bench.

St Helens know they could move level on points with Wigan Warriors in second with a win this evening, while Warrington, who have beaten Saints twice already this year, will be looking to chase down the top six.
