Warrington Wolves host Huddersfield Giants on Saturday afternoon as both hope to get their seasons back on track.
However, both sides have been decimated with injuries, Huddersfield all season long and Warrington more recently.
For the home side, news that Arron Lindop has suffered an ACL injury broke during the week, and with Matty Ashton and Matt Dufty missing for the foreseeable future, boss Sam Burgess has to make multiple changes across the backline.
The Giants are having zero luck in the injury department in 2025, with Adam Clune sustaining another injury, just as he and Tui Lolohea were starting to combine well in the halves.
However, moving quickly to acquire out-of-favour Matt Frawley from Leeds Rhinos ensures he is likely to be a straight replacement in Clune’s absence.
We’ve predicted how both Warrington Wolves and Huddersfield Giants will line up following their 21-man squad news.
How Warrington Wolves could line up against Huddersfield
With Lindop’s absence, the Wolves are struggling in the outside backs. Stefan Ratchford is included in the squad, but it’s more likely that Rodrick Tai will move out to the wing and Ben Currie will start in the centres.
New loanee signing Sam Stone is a fresh face in the squad, and with James Harrison missing, he’s likely to take his spot on the bench from last week.
With Currie moving into the backs, it will also mean a shuffle in the forward pack. Joe Philbin could start in the front row, with Luke Yates returning to his preferred loose forward spot.
There’s a spot for Jordy Crowther and Stefan Ratchford on the bench, as they cover multiple positions across the side between them.
Predicted Warrington Wolves XIII: Josh Thewlis, Rodrick Tai, Ben Currie, Toby King, Connor Wrench, George Williams, Marc Sneyd, Joe Philbin, Sam Powell, Paul Vaughan, Lachlan Fitzgibbon, Adam Holroyd, Luke Yates.
Interchanges: Jordy Crowther, Stefan Ratchford, Sam Stone, Max Wood.
How Huddersfield Giants could line up against Warrington
There’s expected to be a straight swap between Adam Clune and Matt Frawley in the halves for Huddersfield, despite only being with the side for a couple of days.
Frawley has spent most of the season paired with Jack Sinfield in the Rhinos reserves, but being out of contract at the end of the season, a good string of performances with the Giants could put him in the shop window.
Other than Frawley’s inclusion, it’s unlikely that Luke Robinson will make too many changes, as his side has been putting in much-improved performances since many of the players have returned from injury.
Predicted Huddersfield Giants XIII: George Flanagan, Jacob Gagai, Taane Milne, Sam Halsall, Jake Bibby, Tui Lolohea, Matt Frawley, Oliver Wilson, Zac Woolford, Tristan Powell, Sam Hewitt, Joe Greenwood, Leroy Cudjoe.
Interchanges: Ashton Golding, Tom Burgess, George King, Kieran Rush.
