Warrington Wolves team news as surprise full-back named against Huddersfield Giants

Warrington Wolves head coach Sam Burgess has named his team to face Huddersfield Giants with the key decision revolving around the Wire spine.

News emerged just before Wire’s win over Wigan last week that captain George Williams was set for an extended period on the sidelines as the England skipper required surgery on a neck issue.

Early on in the game, the Warrington spine was dealt another blow as full-back Cai Taylor-Wray suffered an ankle injury that it has subsequently been confirmed will rule him out for several weeks.

It means a reshuffle will be needed for the next few weeks and that’s seen Lachlan Webster named at full-back in what is his first Super League start. Meanwhile, teenager Ewan Irwin is the man selected to play in the halves alongside veteran Marc Sneyd.

Opponents Huddersfield have also made changes of their own with interim coach Liam Finn hoping his side can rediscover the form that saw the Giants win their first two games of his tenure.
