Round Thirteen of Super League has seen several milestones recorded with a Warrington Wolves man hitting two landmark moments in his career.
Stefan Ratchford moved into the all-time top ten points scorers in Super League history with his six-point haul in the win over Castleford Tigers on Friday night.
His late try sealed the win and to add the cherry on top, Marc Sneyd sacrificed the conversion and let Ratchford add the two points. Those six points saw Ratchford move onto 1,680 in his Super League career, overtaking Iestyn Harris on the scoring charts.
Making matters sweeter, it was also the 36-year-old’s 350th Warrington Wolves appearance, having debuted against Hull FC in February 2012.
There could have been more records broken by the Wolves had Marc Sneyd not sacrificed that final conversion with the Warrington goalkicker now just one short of Andy Farrell in the all-time Super League goal-kicking leaderboard, on 1,025.
Round Thirteen Super League milestones
Elsewhere on Friday night, Alex Walmsley brought up his 300th St Helens appearance but it was one to forget as he opened up a nasty cut in a clash of heads with his own teammate Morgan Knowles before Hull KR went on to win 34-4.
It was far more positive for Hull KR who kept their winning run going and actually moved to their best ever start to a season since the 1966/67 campaign, as they made it twelve wins from thirteen in the league.
There’s no doubt that this Hull KR team are special but the true test comes this week as they seek to lift silverware for the first time since 1985 when they take on Warrington Wolves in the Challenge Cup Final.
That means Super League takes a break for a week so we won’t see many milestones next week but four other players brought up centuries or double centuries this weekend, including two for Leeds Rhinos.
Both Mikolaj Oledzki and Sam Lisone played the 200th game of their careers as Leeds held on to beat Wakefield Trinity. Later on Saturday, Arthur Romano made his 100th career appearance and Jack Ashworth made his 100th in Super League, as the Black and Whites won 34-0 against Les Dracs.
