Warrington Wolves head coach Sam Burgess has addressed the club’s immediate release of forward Zane Musgrove.
Musgrove was not named to the 21-man squad that Warrington Wolves selected for their game against Hull KR tonight, with the club confirming earlier that the Australian had left.
He’s been snapped up by Championship side Oldham on an 18-month deal and Burgess has now been asked about his former South Sydney Rabbitohs’ teammate’s exit.
“I don’t think we really need to go into the details,” Burgess told Sky Sports when asked about the situation.
“It’s been dealt with internally and we’ve gone through the process. We wish Zane all the best and I see that’s moved on to play at Oldham, so that’s great for Zane. Hopefully, he can get some good football under his belt.”
Zane Musgrove finds news club after Warrington Wolves’ release
Warrington had released a very brief statement to confirm Musgrove’s exit.
It read: “Warrington Wolves can confirm that Zane Musgrove has left the club by mutual agreement with immediate effect.
“We thank Zane for his contribution during his time at the Wire and wish him well in the next chapter of his career.”
That next chapter is with Oldham with Musgrove outlining his excitement at landing a new club with the prop discussing his intent to win silverware and play regular minutes.
“It’s a very exciting opportunity and I know what I am going to bring to this team,” Musgrove told Roughyeds TV after signing. “I want to win stuff and looking at the Championship that is the first thing I want to go and win.
“I want to play footy more than anything having been in and out at Warrington, so that is the first goal. But I know that if I put in my best performances then I can take this club where I want to take this club and that is to potentially win it.
