Warrington Wolves injury fears realised as cruel blow confirmed

Warrington Wolves have confirmed yet another cruel injury blow with a third player suffering a season-ending ACL injury.

Winger Matty Ashton and half-back Oli Leyland have both already heard the devastating news that they’d ruptured or torn their anterior cruciate ligament (ACL), and now Arron Lindop has done the same.

As such, he will be sidelined for the remainder of the 2025 season and potentially even miss some of the early exchanges in 2026 with nine months being a generic baseline for return from such an injury.

Teenager Lindop is in his second season with the first team after Sam Burgess handed him a shock debut as a 17-year-old in the south of France in Round One last year, with Lindop scoring a try in the narrow defeat.

Since then, he’s gone on to make 23 appearances for Wire, scoring 12 times, including six in 14 this season. He had made 11 appearances in Super League so far in 2025 before leaving the field injured in last weekend’s loss to Leeds Rhinos.

News of Lindop’s injury was confirmed by the club on social media, however, Sam Burgess was fairly sure of the news post-match at Headingley on Saturday.

“It’s not looking great,” Burgess admitted, adding: “We will scan it and confirm it, but it is not looking too good for Arron.

“If it’s what we think it is, he has joined a few other guys in that situation at our club. They will form a close bond and work hard and he will certainly be back. He is very determined.”

Warrington Wolves would take to social media to confirm sadly that it was exactly what Burgess and the medical team initially thought, with Lindop becoming the third Wire player to suffer an ACL injury in 2025.

The club announced: “Warrington Wolves can confirm that Arron Lindop has sustained an anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury, ruling him out for the remainder of the 2025 season.

“Everyone at the Club is right behind Arron and will support him fully throughout his recovery.”

Warrington will have to once again shuffle their backs on account of the injury with Huddersfield Giants their next opponents on Saturday.
