Warrington Wolves find themselves in a must-win game against Hull FC if they want to keep their Super League play-off hopes alive.
Sam Burgess’ side currently sit five points adrift from sixth-place Hull FC and a win for the Black and Whites would extend that gap to seven, whilst fifth-place St Helens also look set for a win given that they face struggling Salford.
As such, it feels that Warrington Wolves are already in must-win territory despite this only being Round 16 of the Super League campaign.
The problem that remains, and has hampered them for much of the season, is their injury issues with three separate players suffering ACL injuries and star hooker Danny Walker sidelined for an extended period with a knee injury.
George Williams, who has been linked with an NRL move, is back in the frame and Matt Dufty has returned to the 21-man squad to face Hull FC, who have had plenty of injury issues themselves.
We’re predicted how each side could line up for their meeting at the Halliwell Jones Stadium.
Predicted Warrington Wolves team
It was confirmed by BBC Sport Merseyside that a late fitness call would be made on Matt Dufty, who has been out since the Challenge Cup Final with a fractured eye socket. Given the recovery timeline of Marc Sneyd from the same injury earlier this year and the importance of this game, Burgess might be tempted to throw the gamebreaking Dufty in there.
To counter any concerns, he could name an outside back on the bench which would allow for Josh Thewlis to return to full-back if the Australian can’t come through.
He looks set to name an otherwise relatively unchanged side with James Harrison a big boost to have back on the interchange bench meaning Max Wood misses out.
Warrington Wolves XIII: Matt Dufty; Josh Thewlis, Rodrick Tai, Toby King, Jake Thewlis; George Williams, Marc Sneyd; Paul Vaughan, Sam Powell, Luke Yates; Sam Stone, Lachlan Fitzgibbon, Ben Currie
Interchanges: Jordy Crowther, James Harrison, Joe Philbin, Connor Wrench

Predicted Hull FC team
John Cartwright’s side has been unchanged in the starting XIII the last two weeks and with just one change being made to his 21-man squad that saw youngster Will Hutchinson recalled, it’s likely that Hull FC remain unchanged.
That will see Jordan Rapana anchor the backline in the absence of Will Pryce with Yusuy Aydin continuing to fill in for John Asiata.
Cade Cust got a run out at nine last week as Jack Charles returned to sub on and play in the halves and that could be the plan going forward, particularly given that back-up hooker Denive Balmforth has been sent on loan to Catalans.
Hull FC XIII: Jordan Rapana; Harvey Barron, Tom Briscoe, Davy Litten, Lewis Martin; Cade Cust, Aidan Sezer; Herman Ese’ese, Amir Bourouh, Liam Knight; Zak Hardaker, Ed Chamberlain, Yusuf Aydin
Interchanges: Jack Ashworth, Brad Fash, Sam Eseh, Jack Charles
📋 John Cartwright has named his 21-man squad ahead of Saturday’s Betfred Super League Round 16 clash with Warrington Wolves.
