Warrington Wolves will be without Marc Sneyd when they take on Wigan Warriors at Magic Weekend next weekend. The half-back played a starring role in the first half of Warrington’s clash with St Helens on Thursday night, having a say in the three tries Sam Burgess’ side scored before the break.
However, he took a blow to the head as he attempted to stop Mark Percival touching down just before the break. Replays showed Sneyd appearing to connect the the arm of a fellow Warrington defender before hitting the deck as Percival scored.
He left the field immediately after and as the sides came out for the second half, it was confirmed that Sneyd would not return. As such, Warrington were forced to play the second half of the game with Danny Walker and Ben Currie in the halves before Ewan Irwin entered the fray, with George Williams also ruled out through injury.
Williams has been ruled out with an ankle injury that requires surgery and while Sky Sports’ Jenna Brooks suggested during the broadcast he was ahead of schedule, he’s expected to be out until June at the earliest.
Sneyd’s head injury means he will not be used at St James’ Park either and that means Burgess might have to get creative in the halves without his first choice duo. Both Oli Leyland and Stef Ratchford are available, but both have been out of favour of late.
Sneyd has made five appearances since joining Warrington from Salford Red Devils last month, with the half-back kicking 12 goals in that time.
Warrington Wolves were ninth in the Super League table before their clash with St Helens having lost successive games against Hull FC and Leigh Leopards.
