Warrington Wolves Chief refuses to put label on 2026 ambitions after underwhelming 2025

Warrington Wolves CEO Karl Fitzpatrick is hoping his side massively improve over the 2026 campaign, after such a poor 2025.

Wolves reached a Challenge Cup Final, however overall their season was hugely underwhelming, as they finished in eight place, 10 points from the play-offs.

Wire started the year with a trip to Las Vegas, where they were defeated by Wigan Warriors, and from there, their league campaign never really took off.

Fitzpatrick has stated that had the club had their time again, there would be certain aspects that the club would change in terms of their scheduling, but that was not the main reason for the club’s sub-par effort throughout last year.

With a new-look squad, a reliance on youngsters and Steve McNamara joining the ranks, there is an air of positivity around Wire at the moment, something that has been missing for the past 12 months.

Warrington are one of the top clubs in the competition, and more often than not are always in and around the play-off picture.

Whilst a Super League trophy has alluded them, the club have had success in the summer era, and Fitzpatrick is quietly positive as we kick off the new campaign.

Speaking on The Bench podcast, the club’s Chief Executive spoke in how refuse to put a label on what defines success this term.

“I know this is going to be a cliché. We just want to improve,” said Fitzpatrick.

“We just want to improve on last year and ultimately, we’ll finish where we deserve to finish. So I know a few have tipped us to finish out the top six and that’s fine.

We understand that, and I suppose that puts less pressure on the coaches and the team.

“Look, we just want to improve and then we finish to where we deserve to finish. I know that’s not a great answer, to be honest with you.

“Of course we want to challenge every single club. All the 14 clubs, they want to challenge. But I don’t want to get drawn into putting pressure and write, OK, we’ve got to get to final, we’ve got to get to top four, we’ve got to get to top three.

“As I say, we’ll finish where we deserve to finish…

“You ask every CEO in Super League, they’re going to say, success and a Grand Final win, but I’m not going to put any pressure on the coach or the team and say that’s what we expect.”

Well it’s none of your business where they finish. You just carry on putting in your clown shows and leave the rugby to those that know.
