Tonight’s Challenge Cup fourth round tie between Wakefield Trinity and Leeds Rhinos was delayed for around 25 minutes after a floodlight failure.
The lights at Belle Vue went out just six minutes into the game, which kicked off at 8pm. Referee Jack Smith took the players off the field until power was restored. A Trinity statement said the outage was due to a “suspected isolated cable fault” which was “totally unforeseen and should be sorted now”.
The statement, issued at half-time when Leeds led 14-12, added: All pre-game checks were completed with zero issues found.”
