Ahead of Super League Magic Weekend 2026, Wakefield Trinity forward Caius Faatili has recalled his incredible solo try at the event last year, admitting that it may well be the best moment of his career so far.
Faatili signed with Wakefield ahead of the 2025 season and he has quickly moved to establish himself as a fan favourite and last year’s try at St James Park certainly helped in that, with the Trinity prop breaking from his own half before rounding the full-back Tex Hoy.
That try came against Castleford and ahead of today’s clash against Castleford, Faatili spoke to Serious About Rugby League to give his assessment on Magic Weekend.
“It’s a good atmosphere as well. I think it’s a good initiative to have,” the prop said.
“I’m excited, I’m always excited to play, but Magic Round adds a bit of speciality onto it and we’re bringing back the Wildcats, so it’s going to be pretty exciting to wear that.”
Asked about that famous try and if fans could expect something similar, Faatili joked: “Oh, I wish. I hope so. But, you know, it’s a game of rugby league, you never know what’s going to happen.
“Fingers crossed we can get over the line at least. I’ve been asked about that try a lot of times, and I never really have an answer. It was just a spur of the moment kind of thing.
“I got in a bit of space, and done the right things, I guess.”

It’s a moment that will live long in the memory for Faatili and for Wakefield fans and the Trinity man admitted that it’s likely his best moment so far since signing for the club.
“Yeah, I guess so. That’s definitely a highlight for me, since I moved over anyway,” Faatili said.
“Especially seeing all the Wakey fans under the posts ready to celebrate. It was awesome.”
Whilst he was part of the 2025 crop of overseas recruits, an even bigger name is arriving for 2027 with Wakefield having landed the signature of Roger Tuivasa-Sheck, the former World Player of the Year.
Trin have also signed NRL prop Emre Guler and on those additions, Faatili said: “I just think they’re going to bring a lot of experience, a lot of professionalism that we’re, not missing at the moment but, they’re just adding to our squad and I feel like with their additions we can only get better and that’s what we’re trying to do as a club.
“I think, having the likes of Roger especially, bringing his experiences. Look at the career he’s already had. I feel like it’s only going to do good for the people around him as well.”
