Wakefield Trinity boss Daryl Powell has confirmed that they are interested in St Helens star Harry Robertson, and rumours that a bid being rejected are true.
Reports emerged last week that Trinity were interested in the Englishman, and that the West Yorkshire outfit had sent Saints a six-figure transfer fee.
That bid was rejected, with Saints hoping to keep one of their biggest prospects tied down for the long-term.
Powell said that the club are “keen” on the youngster, with the outside backs a particular part of the field that Wakefield want to strengthen.
The club have already signed Roger Tuivasa-Sheck for the 2027 season, with the expectation that he will play full-back.
Cameron Scott leaving to join Bradford Bulls means a centre spot opens up, and the club were hoping that the Saints wonderkid could be the man to fill that gap.
Asked in his weekly press conference whether the rumours were true, Powell said: “There’s nothing to clear up, that’s true that.
“He was a player that we were interested in – who wouldn’t be? We made an offer, and Saints declined it. That’s up to them, isn’t it?
“We really like him, we think he’s a high-quality player… We’re keen on Harry, but we’ll see what happens.”
