Wakefield Trinity boss gives blunt response amid links to Hull FC centre Davy Litten

Wakefield Trinity head coach Daryl Powell has responded to reports that the club are in for Hull FC centre Davy Litten.

Powell had made no secret of the club’s interest in St Helens’ Harry Robertson, something that was reported earlier in the year with the Wakefield boss confirming that Trinity had seen a bid rejected for the centre, who can also play stand-off.

St Helens made it very clear that Harry Robertson was their player and not at all for sale, even going as far as to report Wakefield to the RFL.

Having lost out on Robertson, Wakefield have seemingly pivoted to Davy Litten, with a report from Love Rugby League stating that a £100,000 bid had been accepted by Hull FC for the centre.

That report also explained that it was now down to personal terms between Wakefield and Litten regarding a move for 2027, though Daryl Powell has now refused to address the reports.

Speaking in his Thursday press conference ahead of the huge top-of-the-table clash against Leeds Rhinos, Powell was asked about those reports and said little.

“I’ve got no comment to make on that,” Powell responded when asked.

“I’m just focussing on the game and what’s important and right in front of us.”

Pushed further on whether Litten was a player that he liked, Powell again asserted: “Like I say, I’ve got no comment on it.

“Just focus on the game and what we’ve got smack bang ahead of us.”

Wakefield have already signed a host of players for next year with the headliner being Roger Tuivasa-Sheck, though Emre Guler and Mason Teague are also arriving from down under, whilst Cameron Smith will join from Leeds Rhinos.

They do appear to be possibly be in need of a centre as Cam Scott has signed for Bradford for 2027 but whether that centre will be Davy Litten is still to be seen.
