With just a handful of rounds to go before the end of the season, it’s time to see which players are currently without a club for 2026, with a look at the current contract situation at Warrington Wolves.
There’s a wealth of senior players seemingly up for grabs, including a player with nearly 400 Super League games under his belt.
Whilst there are rumours that a handful have put pen to paper on short-term deals at the Wolves, they have yet to be officially announced by the club.
Let’s take a closer look at the players who could be available for 2026 and beyond.
Seven Warrington Wolves players out of contract in 2025
Jordy Crowther
He’s featured in all but three Super League games this season and does seem to be preferred over Sam Powell in recent weeks, starting at hooker in the Wolves’ last three games. However, coach Sam Burgess does seem to like rotating between the pair, alongside Stefan Ratchford and Luke Yates. A new deal could be made, depending on the future of others.
Toby King
Whilst there are rumours of a new short-term deal for next season for King, the club hasn’t confirmed anything yet. The 28-year-old has only featured 11 times in 2025 during his testimonial year through injury, but with a crop of youngsters waiting in the wings to challenge him for his spot.
Sam Powell
Powell is another who is said to have signed a one-year deal, but again, it’s yet to be confirmed. He’s featured in all but two Super League games this season, yet his form seems to have dipped in 2025. He needs to find his form prior to joining the Wolves, or else, he might lose his spot completely.
Stefan Ratchford
He’s fallen down the pecking order, but is still called upon to cover a multitude of positions. Ratchford would be a good signing for a team at the lower end of the league, but at nearly 37, could he be ready to call it a day?
Rodrick Tai
Tai wants to stay at Warrington, and coach Burgess wants him to stay, but no contract has been done yet for next season. His performances have been inconsistent since his arrival in 2024, but he has been one of the few in the Warrington backline who’s played more games than others.
Paul Vaughan
Another player who’s rumoured to have signed a new short-term deal, but with no confirmation just yet, he could be up for grabs. As the Wolves’ season hasn’t been great, his form has dipped along with the team. He can be a standout performer in defence, though, especially close to the line, and he’s a player who always puts in the effort.
Connor Wrench
Having returned from his second ACL back in May, he’s made six appearances since in the centres. With obvious injuries across the outside backs, he wouldn’t normally be first choice. It will all come down to whether he wants to bide his time at the Wolves or he can secure a starting spot elsewhere.
