“Been a pleasure” – Tex Hoy gives parting message as he leaves UK following Castleford Tigers release

Former Super League full-back, Tex Hoy, has given his parting message, as he departs the UK following his recent exit from Castleford Tigers.

Hoy was released from the remainder of his contract to “pursue opportunities elsewhere”, with his new venture seemingly taking him back home to Australia.

The 26-year-old departed the Onebore stadium after 35 appearances in Amber and Black, scoring 13 tries and kicking 20 goals in that time.

The signing of fellow Aussies, Blake Taaffe and Tom Weaver, who play at full-back and in the halves respectively, meant that there was no longer a starting role for Hoy at the Tigers.

Originally joining the Northern Hemisphere in 2023, Hoy joined Hull FC, and stayed there for a season and a half before making the switch to West Yorkshire.

He will now depart the UK for good, and doing so gave a final message on his Instagram – @TexHoy – thanking his family, friends and everyone that has been involved in his Super League journey.

The message read:

“3 years, 4 days. Been a pleasure UK. Life Long memories, life long experiences, life long friendships!”

Tagging his partner, Em, he said: “Thank you for being by my side through it all and creating a little life on the other side of the world!

“Now to start one on Australia with a little gremlin 🐾

“In a bit UK”

Hoy’s next club is yet to be confirmed, but he has prior NRL experience with the Newcastle Knights, after making his NRL debut at his hometown side in 2020, before going on to make 29 appearances for the club.
