Super League team news as St Helens, Castleford Tigers and Wakefield Trinity recall key men

Saturday has a packed Super League schedule with three matches playing out across the afternoon and evening and the team news has now been confirmed, with 21-man squads revealed.

Castleford Tigers are looking to finally back up a win when they play St Helens in the 3:00 pm game, whilst Wakefield Trinity look to avenge their round one loss to Toulouse Olympique as they travel to France for the early evening match.

York Knights then host Catalans in the 8:00 pm slot with former Hull FC coach John Cartwright set to take charge of the Dragons for the first time since his appointment earlier in the week.

If Leeds Rhinos are to win on Friday night then St Helens will be looking to reclaim top spot, whilst three of the teams in action are looking to move out of that bottom four.

Castleford Tigers versus St Helens

Castleford are without George Hirst after he was suspended for two matches but they’re able to bring back in Semi Valemei, something that Ryan Carr had teased when speaking to the media on Wednesday.

As well as Valemei returning, so too does Mikaele Ravalawa with Aiden Doolan joining George Hirst as the man to make way.

St Helens recall Mark Percival in a major boost with the centre one of two changes as Noah Stephens also returns after a HIA, with Alfie Sinclair and George Whitby the two players to drop out.

Toulouse Olympique versus Wakefield Trinity

Toulouse make a change in their halves as Thomas Lacans drops out and Jake Shorrocks returns whilst Paul Marcon also returns in the centres. Mathieu Jussaume is the major blow with the versatile second-row/centre missing out as Hugo Garrigues also makes way.

Wakefield have named an unchanged 21-man squad with Daryl Powell rolling the same squad that destroyed Catalans last week. One player in the squad who is expected to feature having missed out last week is forward Isaiah Vagana.

Tom Johnstone and Max Jowitt remain absent with minor issues.

York Knights versus Catalans Dragons

York have been forced into several changes after losing a handful of players last week with Jesse Dee and Matty Foster both stood down for eight weeks after suffering HIAs in consecutive games. Justin Sangare also suffered a head knock against Castleford so he drops out.

Paul Vaughan also drops out in a major loss with the Knights only able to name a 19-man squad and that includes loanee Tom Inman, whilst Danny Richardson also returns.

Catalans Dragons have made four changes with stars such as Lewis Dodd and Tommy Makinson both dropping out, alongside forward Julian Bousquet and young winger Leo Darrelatour.

That’s seen recent signing Adrian Delarose called up alongside Matthieu Laguerre, Lenny Marc and Matty Russell.
