Super League round 20 saw some standout performances and we’ve compiled the very best to create our Team of the Week, with Wigan Warriors leading the way after three selections.
Matt Peet’s side beat their rivals St Helens on Friday night with a 38-16 win but they still slipped to third in the table as Wakefield Trinity leapfrogged them after hammering Castleford Tigers.
Trinity are leading the charge behind Leeds Rhinos, who beat Bradford 42-12 on Sunday but the week’s action had started on Thursday night when Hull KR beat Hull FC, securing a ninth consecutive derby win.
Other matches saw Huddersfield Giants end their losing run by beating York Knights, Catalans edged the French derby with a win over Toulouse, whilst Leigh Leopards beat Warrington to move level on points in fifth.
There were some stellar showings in those matches and we’ve picked out the very best for our own Super League Round 20 Team of the Week.
Super League Rivals Reverse Team of the Week
Full-back: Arthur Mourgue (Hull KR)
There was nothing extremely flashy about Mourgue’s performance on Thursday night but he was pivotal in the win with his try drawing the Robins level with FC, whilst he also kicked a perfect seven from seven off the tee. The Frenchman also came up with 26 tackles in defence in his impressive showing.
Winger: Tom Johnstone (Wakefield Trinity)
An absolute stormer of a game for Johnstone who ran for over 200 metres and scored a brace with the England man finding form in time to make Brian McDermott consider him.
Centre: Umyla Hanley (Leigh Leopards)
Another player who has to be knocking on the door for an England call-up. He’s not played much this season but Umyla Hanley has rarely played below an 8/10 and this performance was even better, scoring one, assisting another, and making 140 metres.
Centre: Adam Keighran (Wigan Warriors)
Jake Wardle has often been dubbed the best centre in Super League but teammate Adam Keighran is staking a claim. He fell one metre shy of 100 but his link-up play was excellent, scoring one try, assisting another, and kicking seven goals in the dominant win.
Winger: Tom Davies (Hull KR)
Plenty of wingers scored this weekend, some even bagged braces, but tryless Tom Davies makes the team on account of his incredible metre-making. The Hull KR winger is relentless with his carries out of backfield and is arguably the best in Super League at it, and he showed that on Thursday as he made 249 metres off his 27 carries.
Half-back: Bevan French (Wigan Warriors)
The greatest half in Super League right now and someone with a debate to be in the all-time list for overseas players. On his return, French scored one, created four more and generally just ran the show before being rested when the job was done.
Half-back: Jake Connor (Leeds Rhinos)
Game-changer. His 40/20 kick, that was actually more like a 15/10 set up the field position for Leeds to score and make it a two-try game, whilst his spiral kick two minutes later provided an assist for Brodie Croft. That was one of three assists whilst he also went perfect from the tee.
Prop: Caleb Hamlin-Uele (Wakefield Trinity)
Destructive. Hamlin-Uele has to be in the England squad for the World Cup as he is staking aclaim to be the best prop in Super League, with his 161 metres off the bench showcasing his impact.
Hooker: Zac Woolford (Huddersfield Giants)
Jez Litten is unlucky to miss out there but Zac Woolford was so impressive against York and it was his try that helped them seal the win, though his 38 tackles in defence went a long way to that victory too, as well as his 136 running metres.
Prop: Tom Amone (Hull KR)
Hull KR needed some impact and Amone brought it with the prop barrelling over for their first try, making three of his 153 metres on that carry in a strong performance.
Second-row: Oliver Partington (Wigan Warriors)
Simply the best signing of the 2026 season, no question or debate about it. Despite not playing in his preferred position at loose forward, Partington was everywhere and he even used that position switch to get himself on the scoresheet as he bagged a brace.
Second-row: James McDonnell (Leeds Rhinos)
So he was technically playing in the centres when he scored his second try but McDonnell played the role as if he was still in the pack with his dominant running too much for Bradford to handle and his intercept try a thing of beauty.
Loose forward: Harry Rushton (Huddersfield Giants)
A captain’s knock from Harry Rushton who made a whopping 51 tackles at a 100% success rate, whilst also making 143 metres as Huddersfield won for the first time since early April.
