Super League stat leaders after seven rounds as Leeds Rhinos, Bradford Bulls and St Helens’ stars dominate

Super League returns after week’s break due to the Challenge Cup, but before the action starts up again it’s time to have a look at which players are topping all the important stats, including tries, assists, tackles and metres.

There have been plenty of dominant performers in the first seven rounds of Super League, however, some players who are among the statistically best are surprising.

To the surprise of no-one, it’s Maika Sivo who leads Super League for tries and that’s despite him missing out in round one but he’s been dominant since then with only Hull FC and Bradford Bulls stopping him from crossing the whitewash.

He bagged four in Las Vegas against Hull KR and has registered hat-tricks against both Castleford Tigers and Warrington Wolves but all that scoring dominance doesn’t correlate with metres made, with the Fijian almost 750 metres behind Catalans’ Charlie Staines, who tops that metric.

Signed from the NRL, Staines has had a very strong start to life in Super League with the full-back making a whopping 1,391 metres in seven games at an average of just under 200 metres per game.

Only three other players have surpassed 1,000 metres, highlighting how impressive Staines has been. There’s also a clear standout for tackles made with Bradford’s Joe Mellor almost 50 clear of second-place, which is teammate Ryan Sutton.

Mellor is racking up an average of over 50 tackles per game with the 69 he made against Leeds Rhinos last week among the highest-ever in a regular 80-minute Super League clash.

England and Warrington skipper George Williams tops the assists chart with nine whilst Jackson Hastings is in hot pursuit on eight, with his St Helens’ teammate Tristan Sailor tied for the most offloads alongside Junior Nsemba.
