York Knights have confirmed the new date for their upcoming Super League fixture against Warrington Wolves, a game that has been rescheduled on account of Wire not being able to play Hull KR back in February due to the World Club Challenge.
Like in 2024 when Leigh Leopards had their game against Wigan Warriors postponed because of Matt Peet’s side taking part in the World Club Challenge, Warrington Wolves were the unfortunate team to see their game reshuffled on account of Hull KR taking on Brisbane Broncos back in round two.
Had neither Warrington or Hull KR made it deep in the Challenge Cup then the game could have been played on a cup weekend when each side was available, however, the Robins went all the way to the final, just as Wigan had done in 2024.
That’s now ensured that Hull KR versus Warrington Wolves will be a mid-week game with the two title contenders set to play three games within the space of two weeks, something that has caused a ripple effect with York Knights’ fixture impacted.
Hull KR announced earlier in the month that they would play Wire on Tuesday, August 18th meaning their game against Catalans would be shifted to Thursday the 13th and their fixture against Toulouse pushed back to Saturday the 22nd. As such, they will play three games in ten days.

Warrington will only play three in eleven days as they too will play on Thursday the 13th, in the game that York have now confirmed, whilst their game against Huddersfield Giants was already scheduled for Sunday the 23rd, so that will remain.
A statement from York confirming their new fixture, read: “Our Round 23 fixture against @WarringtonRLFC at Halliwell Jones Stadium has been rescheduled.
“The game will now be played on Thursday 13 August with an 8pm kick-off, following the rearrangement of Warrington’s Round 2 fixture against Hull KR.”
