History has been broken in the Betfred Super League, as the record for the highest cumulative attendance has been surpassed.
With a whopping 1.62 million fans attending matches across the regular season, it surpasses the previous record, set in 2008, by more than 15,000.
The league has seen a 9% increase in attendances from 2024, as meanwhile there that been growth in broadcast viewing figures and digital output too.
Another impressive stat from this season is the fact that the average attendance of each game has reached over 10,000 for the first time in history.
Sky Sports and BBC viewing figures have increased significantly, with a 52% increase from the previous year. The BBC have shown 10 Super League matches across the season, as well as action from the Men’s, Women’s and Wheelchair Challenge Cups.
The free-to-air channel is set to televise Friday’s first playoff eliminator, as Leigh Leopards take on Wakefield Trinity as they look to become the third team to qualify for this year’s semi-finals.
The BBC will also broadcast England’s test series against Australia in October and November, as Wembley, Everton and Leeds all play host to what will be a historic three-match battle.
Meanwhile on social media, digital impression, engagements and video views have improved year-on-year. This season has seen an increase of 68%, as the sport tries to market itself to differing audiences.
Starting the season strong, The result of Leigh Leopards’ opening round victory, that finished 1-0, over Wigan Warriors gained over 1.5 million impressions on X, in what was the first game in Super League history to finish with score line.

“With rising stadium attendances, booming digital numbers, and increased broadcast audiences, Super League is in a stronger position than ever as we head into the Play-Offs and look forward to the Grand Final at Old Trafford.”

Second Super League club announce record-breaking attendance figures
Wigan Warriors announced this week that 2025 has seen their highest ever average attendance in home games over a regular season. An average of over 17,000 have turned up at the Brick Community Stadium each week to support the club, something that Chief Executive Kris Radlinski labelled as “incredible”.
Hull FC, meanwhile, have become the second club to reveal that their average attendance record has been broken. In what is an increase of over 10% compared to 2024, the Black and Whites recorded an average attendance of 12,159 – the highest figure for a full season since 2010.
In 12 of their 13 home games this year, they have surpassed the 10,000 mark, with a sell-out 21,018 fans attending the Good Friday derby clash against Hull KR.
