Super League Round 27 predictions as Wakefield Trinity tipped to lock up home play-off and League Leaders Shield decided

The predictions are in for the final round of the Super League regular season, and it is expected to be a weekend of entertainment, with plenty of teams still having a lot at stake.

Wigan Warriors need to beat Catalans to win the League Leaders’ Shield, whilst the opposite end of the ladder, Bradford, Hull FC and Huddersfield Giants are all locked on 14 points at the foot of the table.

In the play-off positions, Wakefield could move up to third win a strong win over Leigh and a Warrington loss, whilst the Leopards need to win by 28 to take home advantage away from Trinity.

Hull KR are confirmed to finish either fifth or sixth so have rotated heavily, whilst St Helens say farewell to two legends of the game in Jonny Lomax and Mark Percival.

Before we reveal this week’s predictions, let’s take a look at last week, and it was a poor week for Sam Cook, who loses top spot after only predicting three wins from seven Peter Smith takes first place after getting five from seven, whilst Sam Brocksom narrowed the gap slightly with the same score.

Super League Round 27 predictions

York Knights v Bradford Bulls – Thursday 10th September @ 8:00pm

Peter Smith: York 30-20 Bradford

Bulls will be desperate to climb off the foot of the table, but on home turf York are in good enough form to end the season as it began, with a home win.

Sam Cook: York 28-32 Bradford

York were in Perpignan on Saturday night and they’ve had a short turnaround compared to the Bulls who played last Thursday. With Bradford bang up for this in order to avoid finishing bottom, maybe they sneak a high-scoring match.

Sam Brocksom: York 32-20 Bradford

I think this could be a really entertaining game – two teams who want to go out on a high and send off their departing players in the best way possible. I expect a high-scoring clash with York to take the spoils, which means that Bradford will unfortunately finish bottom.

Leeds Rhinos v Hull FC – Friday 11th September @ 8:00pm

PS: Leeds 40-10 Hull FC

With a couple of big names back, Rhinos should return to winning ways against hapless Hull.

SC: Leeds 48-6 Hull FC

The Black and Whites will want to make up for their dismal showing last week but Leeds have points to prove and they also will want to avenge their earlier season loss against Hull FC.

SB:  Leeds 28-10 Hull FC

Rhinos are set to trial Ash Handley at full-back, which could cause a few teething problems. They should win comfortably, but nothing too silly given they are still working on that spine combination.

Leigh Leopards v Wakefield Trinity – Friday 11th September @ 8:00pm

PS: Leigh 24-20 Wakefield

Leigh to win, but not by enough to leapfrog Trinity on the table.

SC: Leigh 18-26 Wakefield

I think Wakefield come through this with a win, meaning they lock up fourth and will likely host the Leopards next where the result could well be different.

SB: Leigh 24-22 Wakefield

Barring any shock results, these two should meet each other again next week in the eliminator. As I said on this week’s SARL Predictions Show, I expect Leigh to win, but Wakefield to keep fourth spot.

St Helens v Hull KR – Friday 11th September @ 8:00pm

PS: St Helens 10-20 Hull KR (submitted before 21-man squad reveal)

Hull KR could climb a place to fifth and that motivation might be enough to swing it against a Saints side with nothing to play for.

SC: St Helens 36-18 Hull KR

I expect this to be a game where some St Helens stars shine as they try prove their worth to Kevin Walters for next year, whilst also rewarding the fans and capping off a miserable 2026.

SB:  St Helens 42-6 Hull KR

Hull KR have thrown this game after their play-off spot is secure. As a result, Saints are expected to win heavily, but their team isn’t exactly full-strength either, so don’t expect too big a scoreline. I don’t get extra points for this, but I’m backing Jonny Lomax and Mark Percival both to score on their farewell game

Warrington Wolves v Toulouse Olympique – Friday 11th September @ 8:00pm

PS: Warrington 30-18 Toulouse

SC: Warrington 20-24 Toulouse

Wire still have the likes of Williams and Walker but they’ve rotated heavily and Toulouse are no mugs. A win on the road in their final game of 2026 would be a massive statement.

SB: Warrington 18-30 Toulouse

Warrington have opted to rest a few players, and that could come back to bite them. Toulouse are one of the teams to watch in Super League, and given it’s their final game of the year, will want to go out with a bang.

Wigan Warriors v Catalans Dragons – Friday 11th September @ 8:00pm

PS: Wigan 52-6 Catalans

Celebration time for Wigan.

SC: Wigan 46-0 Catalans

Matt Peet’s side will head into the play-offs in fine form.

SB: Wigan 40-0 Catalans

Every Leeds fan will be hoping that Catalans can pull off a shock, but realistically that just isn’t going to happen.

Huddersfield Giants v Castleford Tigers – Saturday 12th September @ 3:00pm

PS: Huddersfield 48-20 Castleford

Only pride at stake, both teams can throw the ball around, but Giants are finishing the year in better form.

SC: Huddersfield 38-16 Castleford

The Giants have been by far the better team in recent weeks and this should be comfortable.

SB: Huddersfield 34-14 Castleford

The Giants’ final game at the Accu gives them incentive to perform, and against a woeful Castleford side, they should win quite comfortably.

Predictions Leaderboard:

1st: Peter Smith – 143 (+5)

2nd: Sam Cook – 142 (+3)

3rd: Sam Brocksom – 133 (+5)
