Super League round 21 attendances as three games draw 10,000+ crowds

Super League round 21 is behind us with the play-offs now one round closer and it’s been another round of strong attendances across the competition.

Three games recorded attendances of 10,000 or more, with one of those games breaking the 15,000 barrier. On the other hand, one game failed to hit 5,000, though that was the clash between basement dwellers Huddersfield Giants and Hull FC, with neither set of fans having much to cheer about this season.

It was Huddersfield left cheering after Thursday’s game as the Giants won 22-16 to draw within two points of FC as the race to avoid the wooden spoon hots up.

Friday saw Hull KR, Leeds, and Wigan all have comfortable wins in front of strong crowds, with the closest of those games being Wigan’s as they went to Leigh and won 20-8.

Matt Peet’s side punished Leigh mistakes and were clinical as they kept pace atop the league, behind Leeds who won 46-0 that same night as Hull KR also piled on the points in their 40-16 win.

Warrington also scored heavy as they beat Castleford, though the attendance of that game is unknown at the time of writing, but the result of the round came later that day.

York Knights beat St Helens to put a huge dent in their top six hopes with a 34-32 win at the LNER Community Stadium, though as with Castleford the attendance is currently unknown.

Wakefield Trinity then won against Catalans in front of almost 8,000 fans as they moved back into second to set up a blockbuster clash between themselves and Leeds Rhinos this week.
