The disciplinary verdict after the latest round of Super League reserve matches is in and Leeds Rhinos have seen two players banned, including the son of a club legend.
Rhinos’ forwards Joe Butterfield and Dacx Jones-Buchanan were both handed bans for their actions in the loss to Wigan Warriors, a game that served as a curtain-raiser ahead of Leeds’ Super League win over Hull KR last Friday night.
Jones-Buchanan, the son of fan favourite and current club CEO Jamie, was handed a Grade E charge worth 18 penalty points for a headbutt. That will see him banned for three matches.
As for Butterfield, who was sent off in the defeat to Wigan, he’s copped a Grade D charge for striking, meaning he is banned for just one match.
One other player was charged from last week’s Super League reserves games with Max Le-Nissen of London Broncos picking up a Grade B charge, however, a total of five players were charged after the latest round of Championship action.
Among them was Jacob Fairbank of Halifax Panthers, who landed a one-match ban for dangerous contact, whilst Newcastle Thunders’ Brendan Santi was handed a two-match ban for a dangerous throw.
The latest round of disciplinary charges were confirmed by the RFL and shared on the governing body’s website.
