The referee appointments for Round Nine of Super League have been locked in with Warrington Wolves v St Helens the premier game.

A record number of fans turned out to watch Rivals Round last week with over 86,000 in attendance at the grounds with the two huge derbies between Hull FC and Hull KR, and Wigan Warriors and St Helens, both pulling in 20,000+ crowds.

It’s expected to be quieter in Round Nine but that doesn’t mean there aren’t games of interest with Thursday’s clash between Warrington and St Helens one of those as the sides meet for the third time in recent times.

Rivals Round also brought about the first red card of the Super League season as referee Liam Moore found no mitigation for Cade Cust’s high shot on Arthur Mourgue.

Looking ahead to Round Nine of Super League, we’ve examined who is the referee and video referee for each game.

The Super League action starts on Thursday with that meeting between Wire and Saints and it is Liam Moore who takes charge with Tom Grant appointed as the video referee.

Moore finds himself on video referee duties on Saturday when Catalans host Wakefield Trinity at 5.30pm, a game officiated by his brother Aaron, as seventh and eighth on the Super League ladder face off.

There are two other games on Saturday with Huddersfield hosting Castleford at 3pm with that game overseen by Marcus Griffiths and James Vella as referee and video referee. The other 5.30pm game sees Salford host Leigh with Liam Rush and Jack Smith working as referee and video referee respectively.

Three games on Saturday means just one on Friday and that sees Hull KR travel to Headingley to face Leeds Rhinos with Chris Kendall in charge and Liam Rush in support. Sunday’s game between Hull FC and Wigan Warriors will see Jack Smith as the man in the middle and Ben Thaler in support.
