The referee appointments for Round 16 of Super League have been confirmed including the battle for third between Leeds Rhinos and Leigh Leopards.
That game takes place at Headingley on Friday night and marks the first meeting between the sides this season. Leigh leapfrogged Leeds this past week to move back into third but they’ll face a tough test to retain that given how good the Rhinos form is at Headingley.
Only Hull KR and Wakefield Trinity have beaten Brad Arthur’s side at Headingley in 2025 with Leeds having since avenged that loss to Wakefield as well.
As for Leigh, they’ve won their last three away games so it’s fair to say that it’s the standout game and that’s seen two of the very best officials in Super League appointed with Liam Moore designated as referee, and Chris Kendall in support.
Between them the pair have officiated the major games in recent years, including this year’s Challenge Cup Final and last year’s Grand Final as well. That’s just one of the six referee appointments confirmed for Round Sixteen of Super League, with all other games announced too.
Who is in charge of this week’s Super League games?
It’s already been confirmed that there will be a new referee in Super League with Cameron Worsley called up from the Championship. The 25-year-old is set to become the 53rd person to referee a Super League match and he’ll make his debut in the south of France, taking charge as Catalans host Huddersfield Giants.
That game takes place on Saturday evening and Worsley will be supported by James Vella as the video referee.
There are two other games on Saturday including Warrington Wolves v Hull FC which will be officiated by Chris Kendall with Jack Smith in support. That’s a 5:30 pm kick-off but there is also an 8:00 pm game between Castleford Tigers and Wigan, overseen by Tom Grant and Liam Moore.
Jack Smith referees earlier in the week, taking charge of Hull KR and Wakefield Trinity on Friday night with Tom Grant in support. The sixth and final game of the weekend takes place on Sunday with Aaron Moore in charge as St Helens play Salford Red Devils.
