The Super League playoffs get underway this week, as the division’s top six do battle for a place at Old Trafford in the hope to lift the Grand Final Trophy and write their name into the history books.
Three of the six competing teams have never won the Super League title, with Leigh Leopards and Wakefield Trinity never even reaching the Theatre of Dreams.
It is the time of the season where results mean everything, with the winner advancing and the loser bowing out, regardless of how well their performance may have been.
With that being said, momentum often plays a huge role in the outcome of the big matches. Wigan Warriors won their final 10 matches in a row before taking the title in 2023, and their last eight matches on the bounce in 2024.
We have taken a look at who those form teams of the competition currently are, with two clubs unbeaten in their last five.
Super League playoff last five matches ranked ahead of top six showdown
6. St Helens – 4pts, -28pd
Paul Wellens’ men are currently on the worst run of form compared to the other top six clubs, achieving just two wins in their last five. However, that stat could have been a lot worse given they conceded three tries in the final five minutes over Castleford Tigers, and if not for two missed conversions, they would have been defeated.
Furthermore, their only other win was a 6-point victory over Hull FC. In between those two results, defeats came against Hull KR, Wigan and Leigh – all of whom are teams they may have to beat should they want to take home the trophy at Old Traffrord.
5. Hull KR – 6pts, -20pd
The Robins may have won the League Leaders Shield, but the final rounds of the season have not been as simple as coach Willie Peters would have wanted. A heavy defeat to Leeds, where they were totally outplayed, was followed by a narrow victory over St Helens and a derby day win over Hull FC, however in neither game was the performance convincing.
Another poor showing and heavy defeat came against Wakefield Trinity, before a final round match against Warrington Wolves saw them scrape past Sam Burgess’ men. However, in what will be a boost for KR fans, they managed to find a way to win against the Wolves, despite not being at their best – something that will give them confidence heading into knockout rugby.
4. Wakefield Trinity – 6pts, +52pd
A perfect first half against the Rovers was enough to get the job done for Daryl Powell’s men, and should they get the win over Leigh Leopards on Friday night, they will take on KR in the semi-finals.
A 44-2 defeat to Wigan Warriors and a poor showing against local rivals Castleford don’t give Wakefield the best form going into the playoffs, but they have the ability to upset anyone on their day, after recording wins over four of the other five teams heading into the finals at some point this year.

3. Leeds Rhinos – 6pts, +58pd
Similar to Wakefield, the Rhinos have beaten all the other playoff teams at least once in 2025, including that 28-6 win over the Rovers.
They followed that up by nilling Hull FC and Huddersfield, but the loss of Jake Connor has been huge, as shown by defeats to Catalans and Wigan.
The mercurial halfback is one of four returnees ahead of their playoff tie with St Helens, and could be crucial if they are to return to Manchester for the first time since 2022.
2. Leigh Leopards – 10pts, +126pd
The Leopards have enjoyed their best season in the club’s history, as they earned themselves a first-ever home playoff final.
After having a small slip in mid-season, with defeats to Leeds and Hull FC, they are very much back to their best having won all of their last five regular season matches, and posted an impressive points differential too.
Lachlan Lam, who was today awarded the RLWBA Player of the Year trophy, has had a standout year, and will be influential yet again should the Leopards progress into the semis, or even Grand Final.
1. Wigan Warriors – 10pts, +164pd
The bookies favourite to win the title, Wigan have had another stellar year and look destined to win their third Grand Final in a row.
Any team who beats them will have to be near-perfect, with the Warriors having such a vast experience in playing finals rugby.
They have blown teams away in their final five matches, with thrashings of Wakefield, Catalans and Castleford adding to victories over Leeds and St Helens.
