Huddersfield Giants playmaker Adam Clune has set down a challenge for the club in Super League in 2026 whilst providing an update on his own fitness following a lengthy rehab process.
The 30-year-old joined the Giants ahead of the 2024 season where he made 26 appearances and made a mark on Super League, however, his second season was ruined by injuries.
Clune played just six times in 2025, missing much of the pre-season before then going down again in his round four return against Wigan Warriors.
That set him back another two months at which point he made a run of five straight appearances before suffering a season-ending injury in the narrow 22-18 defeat to Wigan, played at Dewsbury’s stadium.
Clune has been rehabbing that hamstring injury ever since but he’s now back with ball in hand and returning to pre-season to explain what his journey has been like, and what challenge he’s laid down for the club in Super League 2026.

The Australian wasn’t the only man rehabbing at Huddersfield with the Giants having torrid injury luck in 2025 and Clune noted that aspect helped in what can so often be a lonely process.
He explained: “I was in 3 days a week over the off-season, but had a couple of boys in here with me, which made life a little bit easier.
“Swifty (Adam Swift) and Niall (Evalds) were in the gym most times I was, which was nice for me to have some company and for them as well.
“All three of us had a pretty, pretty disappointing year injury wise last year. I think I’m just really excited, like I said, to play footy. I mean, I love playing the game and love being at training each day.”
As pre-season now ramps up for Clune, he’s also set a challenge to himself and the club with his own focus being to “play as many games as possible” and contribute to the team.
As for the club on the whole, he said: “Our challenge has been consistency the last few years and obviously, you know, having personnel on the field, week in, week out, helps that, but if we can do that and reach our potential as a team and play our best footy, then that’ll go a long way to getting us where we want to be.”
Club owner Ken Davy has made the ambitious claim that the Giants will win a Super League Grand Final in time with that being the sole focus of the club, making those comments at a Huddersfield Giants season launch event.
