One of Toulouse Olympique’s overseas players will be on the sidelines for the first part of 2026, the club has confirmed.
Calum Gahan joined the French outfit ahead of 2023, and has been a regular in the side since then.
The former London Broncos man was born in Darwin, Australia, and came through the ranks at North Queensland Cowboys. He never managed to make an NRL appearance, but did feature heavily for the Norths Devils in the Queensland Cup.
Primarily a hooker, but can also play in the halves, Gahan was set to be a prominent player for Sylvain Houles in 2025, however an injury in the early stages of the year ended his campaign before it really started.
In an update provided on Toulouse’s social media, the 28-year-old has revealed to fans his current progress, and has revealed a further injury that will keep him out of the side for another few months at least.
“Hello everyone, it’s Calum here. I’m in my fifth week of rehab now.
“You may remember, last year, in round four, I ruptured my Achilles tendon. That’s why I didn’t play last year.
“This year, I have another problem with my Haglund. It’s the bone at the back of my foot, and to fix that, I had to get surgery, and that’s mainly why I’m not training with the guys right now.”
Revealing his potential return date, he added: “I hope that this year, around May, I’ll be able to play again. I can’t wait to start again.
“[I can’t wait] to be able to play with the guys again, with my brothers, and to be able to play for this club again.”
Gahan is one of two senior hookers in the Toulouse side, after the club opted to make the loan deal for Brendan Hands a permanent switch upon their Super League promotion.
The club also have Baptiste Rodriguez in the side, who has filled in at nine over the course of 2025.
