Looking ahead to the 2026 Super League season and there are still plenty of quality off-contract wingers available to sign.
Among those on the list are some of the very best in Super League history as well as others who are at the start of what look like very promising careers.
We’ve put together a list of some of the most attractive options for teams who are looking to bolster their outside backs in 2026, be that as a starting option, a development project or for depth reasons.
Which off-contract Super League wingers are available for 2026?
Josh Charnley (Leigh Leopards)
The most talked-about name on this list is undoubtedly Josh Charnley with Adrian Lam even confirming this week that he would be willing to let the 34-year-old head out on loan. Charnley has the second-most tries in Super League history, just one shy of the 250 mark, but he’s struggling for game time at Leigh at the moment.
Having just turned 34, he still has plenty left and he’s clearly driven to catch up with fellow veteran Ryan Hall to try and claim top spot in the try-scoring ranks.

Tom Briscoe (Hull FC)
Briscoe isn’t as far up the scoring charts as Charnley but he is adding to his tally and has recently drawn level with Leon Pryce to sit tied ninth all time in the competition. He also needs one to register his 100th for Hull FC, however, he’s not resigned to leaving them just yet and has recently spoke on his desire to play on for the club.
Jacob Douglas (Wigan Warriors)
On the opposite end of the spectrum is a player like Jacob Douglas who only has four tries so far in his Super League career, with three of those coming against Salford earlier this season. The 21-year-old has made three appearances for Matt Peet’s side this year but has plenty of promise.
Lachlan Walmsley (Wakefield Trinity)
The Australian-born Scotland international does take up an overseas quota space and he’s previously admitted that he expects to depart at the end of the year, however, he will surely have given Daryl Powell plenty to think about given his performances when he has played. Lightning speed and acrobatic finishes characterise his game and you’d expect a team to take a chance.
Best of the rest
Whilst the four above stand out, there’s still a lot more depth with the likes of Jon Bennison (St Helens) another good option. Bennison has found games hard to come by at Saints but he has plenty of Super League experience and would be a solid option for most team.
Josh Simm (Castleford Tigers) and Fouad Yaha (Catalans Dragons) are also options that could be considered with Yaha, who is still only 28, Catalans’ all-time top try-scorer.
