Two NRL players who have been linked to Super League may yet have found another chance to remain down under, according to recent reports.
In total, there are 100 NRL players without contracts for 2027 so there is sure to be some movement from down under to Super League and that’s meant plenty have been linked.
Dolphins half Kodi Nikorima is among those, especially as Warrington Wolves’ George Williams has signed to effectively replace him, whilst veteran centre Dane Gagai is another who has been linked to a Super League switch.
Interestingly, both men have brothers playing in Super League and it’s understood by Serious About Rugby League that Bradford Bulls have had conversation about reuniting Kodi with his brother Jayden, who currently plays in the halves for the West Yorkshire club.
As for Dane Gagai, his brother Jacob plays for Huddersfield, though he is also off-contract meaning there’s plenty of uncertainty about that pair.
More clarity has been gained on both the NRL men though as reports down under have suggested that they have options to stay down under, potentially scuppering a move to Super League.
The Courier Mail have reported that Nikorima may stay on at the Dolphins with a new contract tabled in a move that would create plenty of competition with George Williams.
Nikorima has teased that his future will be confirmed soon, telling ESPN: “I obviously know this is a business at the end of the day. I do have options elsewhere, which I’m going through now with my management.
“You guys will soon know in the next couple of weeks.”
As for Dane Gagai, he has reportedly been offered a deal back at the club where it all began for him, with Brisbane Broncos offering a one-year deal for the 35-year-old.
That’s also according to the Courier Mail with the Newcastle Knights man potentially on the move and set to continue his incredible 328-appearance NRL career.
