Super League-linked duo sign with NRL clubs ending UK speculation

NRL

Two NRL players that have been linked with a move to Super League have had their futures confirmed, with neither player making the move to the UK competition.

Tommy Talau’s name was one of many off-contract NRL players at the end of 2025, with the Manly Sea Eagles centre not having his contract renewed by the club.

Also on Manly’s list of departures were Wakefield Trinity man Jazz Tevaga and Warrington Wolves prop Toafofoa Sipley, whilst Jake Arthur and Chris Patolo also join Super League from the Sea Eagles.

Son of former St Helens star, Willie, the 25-year-old has penned a one-year deal with the Sydney Roosters for 2026, and will be battling with potential future England international Billy Smith for a place in the starting side.

Having already played 83 times in the Aussie first grade, and scoring 41 tries in that time, he would have been a huge coup for any Super League side, should he have made the move ahead of 2026.

Another man who has had his future confirmed is outside back Brian Kelly, who has moved from Gold Coast Titans to Parramatta Eels.

Kelly moves to the Eels to take the place of winger Zak Lomax, who was set to join rebel rugby union brand R360, but the delaying of the competition has left him in limbo as to where his future lies.

The 29-year-old made is NRL debut with Manly in 2017, and has been at the Titans since 2019. Reports in September linked him to a move to Warrington Wolves, but he has since made a U-turn in his decision to move across the world, and he has now joined Jason Ryles’ side on a two-year deal.
