It’s time for the injury wrap after round four of Super League with at least two clubs in the midst of an injury crisis already.
Those teams are St Helens and Huddersfield Giants with the latter missing more bodies but the star power that Saints have on the sideline is astonishing.
All of Matty Lees (knee), Jack Welsby (shoulder), Jonny Lomax (wrist) and Alex Walmsley (foot) were already out long-term and NRL signing Jacob Host can now be added to that list after suffering a leg break against Bradford Bulls.
That was suspected post-match but Host has since shared an X-ray confirming the news on his Instagram, in yet another devastating injury blow suffered this early on in Super League.
Injury issues didn’t end there for Saints, with George Delaney failing a HIA and Nene Macdonald leaving the field early with an as yet unconfirmed issue, but whilst three suffered injury this week for St Helens, four did for Huddersfield.

Round four Super League injury news
The Giants’ casualty list was already in double digits but they left the Accu Stadium on Sunday with George Flanagan in a boot, Matty English in a knee brace, and with concern toward Kieran Rush (knock) and Ollie Russell (groin).
Flanagan has been the club’s standout star this year and could be yet another full-back to go down injured. To make matters worse for Luke Robinson, fellow number ones Niall Evalds and Logan Blacker are also currently sidelined.
Wigan Warriors will have a similar full-back fear. Bevan French replaced Jai Field (appendicitis) in the starting line-up but the former Man of Steel was withdrawn late on with a possible hamstring issue, though nothing has been confirmed.
Saturday also saw Bradford suffer two potential injuries with Waqa Blake not returning for the second half with an undisclosed issue whilst Ed Chamberlain look to take a knock to his knee. The Bulls travel to face Wigan this week in the Challenge Cup.
Leeds saw Ash Handley go down with another groin injury, though Brad Arthur revealed his exit from the field was purely precaution. James McDonnell was left out due to a back complaint. The back rower wanted to play but was kept back, highlighting the club’s strength in depth.
Friday night saw Jordan Thompson suffer an arm injury for York whilst Catalans winger Tommy Makinson missed out against Leigh after pulling up in the warm-up with a knee issue.
