Rivals Round is complete and the Super League table is starting to well and truly take shape. Hull KR remain on top of the table after their 28-14 win over nearest and dearest rivals Hull FC at the MKM Stadium.
The Robins have led the way throughout the season so far and they now find themselves two points clear of the rest at the summit. Hull FC have been leapfrogged by Wigan Warriors and Leigh Leopards, though, with the Black and Whites now in fourth.
Wigan saw off rivals St Helens at the Brick Community Stadium, while Leigh underlined their early play-off chasing credentials by beating Warrington Wolves 18-14 on home soil.
Catalans Dragons seem to be finding some traction and they beat Salford Red Devils 38-10 and there was also wins for Leeds Rhinos and Wakefield Trinity, who saw off strugglers Huddersfield Giants and Castleford Tigers respectively.
But, while the round broke attendance records, a number of clubs are now counting the costs of injuries.
Super League round eight injury concerns
Hull KR picked up two injuries from their derby win over their west Hull rivals, with wingers Joe Burgess and Tom Davies sustaining issues. Davies damaged his shoulder in the contest and missed a significant chunk of the action, while Burgess left the field late with a head knock.
Ed Chamberlain and Jordan Rapana picked up issues for Hull, with Chamberlain injuring his shoulder, too, while Rapana had a groin complaint.
Wigan Warriors saw Patrick Mago pull out of the warm up against St Helens due to illness, while Tyler Dupree took a blow to the head. Paul Wellens was also forced to content with injuries, as Joe Batchelor suffered a hamstring injury.
Huddersfield Giants’ injury woes continue. They picked up three issues against the Rhinos with Liam Sutcliffe struggling with a groin problem, Jacob Algar going off for a HIA and Aidan McGowan taking a knock on the ankle.
David Armstrong injured his thigh in Leigh’s win over Warrington, while Catalans’ Reimis Smith and Salford’s Matty Foster were the casualties to come from the contest in the south of France.
