It’s a busy Super League injury round-up with five players immediately ruled out plus several others doubtful, including key men for Warrington Wolves and Wigan Warriors.
Round Nine of Super League saw some big scores racked up as Hull FC hit 50 whilst Hull KR and Leeds Rhinos came close, but unfortunately the round also saw some big injury news.
The biggest of that came from a man who picked up an injury last week as it was revealed that George Williams’ neck injury will require surgery with the England skipper potentially ruled out for the season, dependent on how his rehab goes.
Wire also lost a key player in their win over Wigan Warriors with Cai Taylor-Wray leaving the field with an ankle injury having struggled throughout most of the first-half. He’ll be set for scans with Wire hoping it’s not another long lay-off for the talented young full-back.
Warrington came through to win that game against a Wigan side missing star man Bevan French due to a hamstring injury and the Warriors picked up another similar injury, as winger Liam Marshall pulled up holding his hammy early in the first-half.

Super League round nine injury report
Elsewhere, there were five confirmed failed Head Injury Assessments with players immediately stood down after such incidents. That means that Ligi Sao (Hull FC), George Hirst (Castleford Tigers), Benjamin Garcia (Catalans Dragons), Seth Nikotemo (Wakefield Trinity) and Jordan Dezaria (Hull KR) will all miss games this coming week.
The only other substantial on-field injures came on Thursday night with York Knights’ Josh Griffin appearing to suffer a ruptured bicep, something that will likely spell a very long time on the sidelines.
Also on Thursday night, Robbie Mulhern suffered a calf injury early on. It was the same calf injury that had seen him pull out in the warm-up the week prior so Leigh will be hoping it’s a twitch as opposed to a tear or anything serious.
As well as those on-field injuries, there were also some notable omissions with Liam Hood missing out through a neck injury that could leave him sidelined for a while. Hull KR’s Joe Burgess was a surprise omission but Willie Peters confirmed post-match that the winger had been struggling with sickness.
