Round 11 of Super League is complete and the table is really starting to take shape now. Hull KR have led the way all season and they remain two points clear in Super League after their 34-0 win over Huddersfield Giants on Saturday evening.
The Robins weren’t at their best but they still had more than enough to rack up a convincing scoreline at Craven Park. Wigan Warriors had to dig deep to see off Leigh Leopards at the Brick Community Stadium and that sees them keep up the heat on the Robins.
Leeds Rhinos are in fourth after their dramatic, last gasp win over Hull FC on Friday night, with Ryan Hall touching down in the final minute to snatch victory from the jaws of defeat, while St Helens’ 40-0 win over Catalans Dragons sees them move up to fifth.
That was a win that eased the pressure on Paul Wellens and served to put Steve McNamara under enormous amounts of scrutiny, with the Dragons languishing in eighth.
Warrington Wolves remain in ninth with the Challenge Cup finalists being humbled by Wakefield Trinity at Belle Vue. That game finished 40-10 to Wakefield with the Yorkshire side scoring seven tries on the day and embarrassing Warrington.
Castleford Tigers were the only other winners from the weekend as they swept aside Salford Red Devils with ease.
Here, we take a look at the injury issues that cropped up over the course of the round.
Super League round 11 injury concerns.
St Helens’ win over Catalans appeared to come at a price with Matt Whitley having to leave the field with a head knock and never returned to the field. That was before a damaging Friday night saw two players stretchered off with what looked at the time to be serious injuries.
Jordan Rapana was the first to be carried off the field as the Hull FC man collided with Jake Connor at Headingley. The contact left him unconscious on the turf but John Cartwright revealed the back was up and about in the changing rooms while speaking after the game.
Wigan Warriors’ Zach Eckersley was the other serious injury concern after a suspected crusher tackle. He was taken to hospital for scans after the game but has been given the all clear.
Gareth O’Brien failed a HIA in the latter game, while David Armstrong was ruled out due to a knee issue.
Bill Leyland was the only injury Hull KR picked up against the Giants, with the hooker sustaining an ankle injury. Leyland was able to return to the action late in the game but Willie Peters admitted there was a little bit of uncertainty about the injury.
Matty English had to have stitches in his mouth after a high shot from Jared Waerea-Hargreaves.
Jake Trueman was absent once more this week for Wakefield Trinity, despite being named in the 21-man squad. Meanwhile Jayden Nikorima sustained an ankle problem as Salford Red Devils lost at Castleford in the final clash of the weekend.
