Super League injury news round-up as Warrington Wolves sweat Wembley plus Hull FC and St Helens blows

Round Thirteen of Super League has seen a number of key men pick up blows and here’s the injury news round-up of the week.

The conclusion of Round Thirteen means we are almost halfway through the season with the next Super League fixtures taking us past halfway and there are a number of injury issues for clubs to contend with.

We’re set for a week away from Super League as we head to the Challenge Cup Final meaning that the ten teams not in action have time to deal with those injury issues.

Round Thirteen saw front-runners Hull KR and Wigan Warriors assert their dominance once again, whilst the bottom three of Salford Red Devils, Huddersfield Giants and Castleford Tigers all fell to defeat again.

Catalans Dragons being nilled for a third straight game sees them fall further down the Super League table but victors Hull FC return to England with some worrying injury news.

As for next week’s Challenge Cup Final between Super League leaders Hull KR and Warrington Wolves, Sam Burgess’ side have some positive injury news heading into the game.

Here’s a round-up of all the injury news from Round Thirteen of Super League.

Round Thirteen Super League injury news

Thursday night’s match between Huddersfield Giants and Leigh Leopards saw no fresh injuries though David Armstrong left the field for the final 10 minutes, potentially as a rest given his recent injury issues.

Friday unfortunately saw a lot more injury issues with St Helens dealt a triple blow including one for a huge player. George Delaney failed a HIA but with no game next week shouldn’t be too affected, but issues for Jack Welsby and Lewis Murphy are more concerning.

Welsby left the field before half-time with a knee injury that will be assessed this week, whilst Lewis Murphy came off in the second half due to a leg injury as well.

Hull KR seemed to come through injury-free ahead of their Challenge Cup Final against Warrington who also looked to evade issues, with Lachlan Fitzgibbon leaving the field before Sam Burgess declared post-match that he’d be fine to play.

Burgess also confirmed that George Williams, who has been out since mid-April, will “more than likely play” in a major boost for Wire.

Warrington’s opponents Castleford saw on-field captain Alex Mellor fail a HIA after 20 minutes but like Delaney, he should be fine for Round 14. Another Friday night issue saw Kruise Leeming left out for illness.

Saturday’s games presented more issues though with Leeds’ full-back Lachie Miller set for scans after injuring his calf, whilst Hull FC boss John Cartwright confirmed Amir Bourouh had gone for X-rays to assess a possible broken cheekbone.

Hull’s opponents Catalans saw Elliott Whitehead pull out in the warm-up with a back issue and Matthieu Laguerre fail a HIA.
