Round 18 of Super League saw some close encounters as league leaders Hull KR lost just their third game of the season and bottom side Salford claimed their second victory in 2025.
Leigh Leopards beat top side Rovers, as Wigan Warriors and St Helens also won, closing the gap and rounding out the top four.
Hull FC also got themselves back into the top six, beating Wakefield Trinity at home to secure their first home win for nearly a year.
Warrington Wolves also continued their hunt for a place in the play-offs after a win in the south of France against Catalans Dragons.
However, whilst there was plenty of action, there was a whole host of injuries across Super League.
Here’s a round-up of all the injury news following the conclusion of Super League round 18.
Super League round 18 injury news
Hull FC second-rower Ed Chamberlain suffered another failed HIA on Thursday night, which could see him have to sit out for longer than just one match. Hooker Amir Bourouh also failed his HIA, so he will sit out for the Black and Whites’ trip to Wigan Warriors on Saturday night.
Hull FC’s opponents on Thursday night, Wakefield Trinity, also had Tom Johnstone pull out of the squad on the morning of the game. He has a groin strain, which the club are awaiting a scan on.
Huddersfield Giants have had their fair share of injuries in 2025, and it doesn’t look like there’s much light at the end of the tunnel yet. Forward Sam Hewitt headed to the hospital following the Giants’ defeat to the Warriors. He has a suspected fractured jaw following a collision with Junior Nsemba. Joe Greenwood failed an HIA, and winger Adam Swift pulled up in the warmer with a tight abductor. Tom Burgess also missed the match due to illness.
Leeds Rhinos’ forward Mikolaj Oledzki also had a trip to the hospital following the Rhinos’ 6-0 defeat to St Helens. It looks like he has a facial fracture, but the club are awaiting scans first.
Leeds’ opponents, Saints, didn’t fare much better after their win either. They will be without hookers Daryl Clark and Jake Burns when they host Leigh Leopards on Thursday night. Both of them failed HIAs, so it looks like Moses Mbye will move back to hooker, and there could be a return for young halfback, George Whitby. Prop Noah Stephens will also be missing for the next couple of months after suffering a fractured thumb that kept him from featuring against the Rhinos.
Catalans Dragons veteran fullback Sam Tomkins pulled up in the warm-up ahead of their fixture against Warrington Wolves. It looks like a recurrence of a knee injury, which kept him out of the game. Marc Sneyd also suffered a thigh strain during that match, leaving the field in the first half. Wolves boss Sam Burgess is hopeful that he will be fit enough to face Castleford Tigers on Sunday afternoon.
League leaders Hull KR lost for just the third time in 2025 and will also have to shuffle around their spine once again. Mikey Lewis’ replacement, Danny Richardson, lasted just sixteen minutes into their clash with Leigh Leopards, limping off with a lower leg injury, possibly his ankle. He was then replaced by Jez Litten, who started on the bench. However, he failed a HIA late on in an incident involving Lachlan Lam, where Litten was also sin-binned for tackling Lam off the ball. The good news for Rovers fans is that Mikey Lewis is due back for next week’s trip to Catalans Dragons.
Salford might have won only their second game of the season, but it wasn’t without injury issues. Loghan Lewis returned to the fold for the very first time this season, but lasted just 30 seconds before he went off for an HIA, which he later failed.
Halfback Jayden Nikorima and centre Esan Marsters both landed awkwardly and subsequently suffered a wrist injury and a dislocated shoulder, respectively. Having handed out another debut, they might be promoting a couple more academy products for next week.
