Super League side Castleford Tigers have sent hooker Aiden Doolan out on loan to Championship side Hunslet for the remainder of the season.
The club have confirmed that there is a recall option for Doolan who, despite an injury to first-choice Liam Hood, has found game time hard to come by in his first season at Wheldon Road.
Doolan was signed by Castleford in November, penning a two-year deal with the Super League club having previously had a trial at Huddersfield Giants in the 2025 season.
A former Warrington Wolves academy player, Doolan can name Widnes and Barrow among his former clubs and it had been announced back in January that he would join the Raiders on a season-long loan, though he was ultimately recalled.
Doolan played five games for the Raiders from January through March before being recalled but he’d only play three times for Castleford, and not since the end of April.
With Ashton Golding now firmly securing the starting spot at hooker, Castleford have opted to send the 22-year-old Doolan out on loan to Hunslet for the remainder of their Championship campaign.
The Yorkshire club sit 15th in the Championship, just four points shy of the top ten and the play-offs.
Confirming his addition, Hunslet said: “Hunslet RLFC are pleased to announce that Castleford Tigers hooker, Aiden Doolan has joined the Parksiders on loan until the end of the season.
“Aiden, who has Championship experience with Barrow, has made three Super League appearances for the Tigers this season.”
Castleford also announced his exit with their brief statement confirming that the club do have a recall option on the hooker with the Tigers having experienced plenty of injuries in the dummy-half position so far this year in Super League.
