Super League Grand Final viewing figures report huge boost as IMG effect evident

The viewing figures are in the for the Super League Grand Final and they make for impressive reading and a sharp increase on 2024.

Despite the Grand Final being a repeat meeting of last year’s sides, fans were still eager to watch and that’s meant an increase in viewership of over 20%.

It’s easy to imagine that viewing figures would remain stagnant or even decline given the fact it was a repeat Grand Final, though some would argue that fed into the narrative.

One thing that certainly did create a narrative was the treble-seeking Robins versus Wigan’s three-peat chances, with both sides looking to etch their name into the Super League history books.

In the end, it was Hull KR who had their day in the sun as they became just the fifth side to lift the Super League trophy, and the fifth to win a treble in the modern era.

As well an increased attendance, it’s now been confirmed that viewing figures are also up.

Super League viewing figures revealed with impressive increase

Viewing figures on Sky Sports recorded in at an average of 455,000 with a peak of 530,000 with both figures up considerably on last year.

In 2024, the average was 374,000 and the peak was just 479,000, accounting for an increase of around 80,000 average viewers and 50,000 peak viewers.

As yet, figures for the BBC highlights show haven’t been confirmed but they could also trend up and that would be another huge boost for the sport and a justification of IMG’s involvement.

The sport has done well in many metrics this season with viewing figures and attendances up across the game with Saturday’s Grand Final the 10th-best attended of all time and the highest since 2017.

It also marked an increase of almost 700 fans on last year which again is impressive when you account for the fact it’s a repeat final and that Hull KR fans have already travelled to Wembley, and Wigan fans to Las Vegas.
