Super League forward Jimmy Beckett has left Castleford Tigers to sign a month-long loan deal in the Championship in a bid to earn some valuable playing time.
Beckett was one of the off-season signings that Castleford made with the prop forward getting a crack at Super League after establishing himself as one of the finest forwards in the Championship.
In particular, his 2025 season with Featherstone was enough to put him in the shop window for several Super League sides but it was the Tigers who managed to snag Beckett, however, he’s since found game time tough to come by.
To date, Beckett has played just three games for the Tigers, the most recent of those coming in March and that’s seen him spend time out on loan at both Goole Vikings and Sheffield Eagles since then.
He’s now been signed by another Championship club with Batley Bulldogs taking to social media to confirm that they have signed the prop on an initial month-long deal.
One key reason why Beckett could be making the loan switch now is that Castleford Tigers have just confirmed the permanent signing of Jack Brown from Hull KR, whilst they have also added Tyler Dupree in recent weeks meaning their pack has gained some valuable experience.
Confirming the signing, Batley announced: “We are pleased to confirm the signing of Castleford Tigers prop forward Jimmy Beckett on an initial one-month loan deal.
”Beckett adds significant power and proven experience to the forward pack. The hard-hitting prop is no stranger to the division, having made 31 appearances for Featherstone Rovers last season, where he earned a reputation as one of the standout forwards in the competition before making his permanent move to the Super League with Castleford.”
