Monday typically means Match Review Panel day and the Super League disciplinary verdict, however, that is not the case today with the split Round 20 meaning all cases will be heard next week instead.
Typically following a weekend of action, the nervous wait for fans, players and club’s begins as they await to hear if any of their players have been either charged of banned when the Super League disciplinary meeting is held by the RFL.
That anxious wait will last a lot longer this week for the six teams who played in the first half of Super League Round 20, a split round with three fixtures played this past weekend and three played this coming weekend.
It’s been confirmed by the RFL that no incidents will be ruled upon until next Monday, August 4th, when all six games from Round 20 of Super League will be assessed at once with the disciplinary panel also effectively having a week off.
Super League disciplinary verdict pushed back
There was just one sin bin in the first three games of Super League Round 20 with Brodie Croft shown yellow for a trip and whilst he almost certainly won’t be banned, he’s likely to cop a charge.
However, he won’t find that out until next Monday. Similarly, all the unpunished incidents that may be looked at once again will also go under the microscope next week instead.
With no major incidents, it’s likely that the disciplinary action from these first three games won’t be excessive so there shouldn’t be too much worry for those players during their week off.
Ahead of this split round, two players were banned with Wakefield’s Isaiah Vagana and Castleford’s Jeremiah Simbiken both handed one-match bans.
Trinity saw Vagana miss their win on Thursday night against Leeds Rhinos, however, Castleford will have to wait until this week for Simbiken to serve his ban with the second-rower set to miss the clash against St Helens.
