Super League disciplinary sweats with Hull KR and Leeds Rhinos stars fearing bans

Round ten of Super League is in the books and plenty of players will be wary of today’s disciplinary verdict, in particular those playing in the Challenge Cup this coming week.

Two bumper semi-finals await with Wigan Warriors facing rivals St Helens whilst there is also a repeat of last year’s final with Hull KR taking on Warrington Wolves. All four sides are heading into their cup matches off the back of wins, with Hull KR the most convincing of the lot.

The Robins started round 10 off with a dominant 50-6 win over Castleford but they saw star man Mikey Lewis placed on report in the game after he made contact to the head of Sam Hall whilst in the process of kicking.

Hull KR will hope that sense prevails and he avoids any charge but it’s certainly something the Robins will be watching out for when the Match Review Panel return their verdict later today.

Other games in round ten saw Leigh Leopards beat Catalans and Leeds Rhinos beat Wakefield Trinity with that game drawing the most attention in regards Super League disciplinary.

Which Super League players are sweating the disciplinary verdict?

Brad Arthur’s side saw three players sent to the sin bin but it’s Maika Sivo who will be most nervous of today’s verdict after he caught Josh Rourke high and was sent to the sin bin.

Pundit Jon Wilkin was among those to claim it should have been red and it will be interesting to see what the Match Review Panel decide. Both centres Ash Handley and Jack Bird were also shown yellow for a professional foul and delaying the restart, respectively, though neither will be fearing a  ban.

Friday night also saw Ata Hingano catch Kyle Feldt with a stray arm which, whilst unintentional, did result in Kyle Feldt failing a HIA but there was plenty of mitigation and that will be considered.

Jake Davies of St Helens was another to make a tackle that led to a HIA failure, however, Jesse Dee was slipping into contact so that again will be considered.

Onto the weekend and Bradford’s Mitch Souter committed a tip tackle on Jack Farrimond that will require further scrutiny, whilst Leigh’s spine duo of David Armstrong and Adam Cook were penalised for a late shot and head contact, respectively.

Even later on Saturday evening was James Bentley’s sin bin as he was both late and high in the tackle meaning he faces a nervy wait to see if he is banned for the Challenge Cup semi-final against Hull KR.
