Salford Red Devils and Wigan Warriors among sides sweating Super League disciplinary

Round 15 of Super League is in the books but the disciplinary verdict will be heard today with several clubs sweating it.

The Match Review Panel will meet to go through all this week’s incidents and hand down judgement, and despite there being just one card shown, there’s plenty to look at.

Recent weeks have seen the Match Review Panel refer players to an Operational Rules Tribunal with Hull KR forward Sauaso Sue escaping a ban after allegations of spitting, whilst Benjamin Garcia was then banned for four matches for punching.

Amid an accusation of an eye gouge in Round 15, Super League could be potentially awaiting another disciplinary tribunal on Tuesday night.

That incident was placed on report and we’ve picked out some other key moments across the weekend which might have Super League sides anxiously waiting today’s disciplinary verdict.

Who will be sweating the Super League disciplinary verdict?

Taane Milne is the man accused of an eye gouge with Warrington forward Jordy Crowther making the accusation. Crowther was involved in a two-man tackle on Milne and came out furious, gesturing to his eye and then the referee.

Confirming he was making an allegation of an eye gouge, the video referee looked but couldn’t find anything conclusive meaning the incident was placed on report. As such it will be among one of the things certainly looked at today.

The other will be the only sin bin from Round 15 and that went to Catalans forward Tevita Pangai Jr for a high shot on Leigh’s Gareth O’Brien.

Elsewhere, Salford Red Devils man Joe Shorrocks will be anxiously awaiting the verdict given his prior record. Shorrocks was handed 15 penalty points earlier in the year for his tackle on Brodie Croft. Even worse, he earned a further five by unsuccessfully appealing.

After taking Aidan Sezer high and late, he’ll surely be looked at for a charge and even a minor one could tip him back towards a ban.

The final player who could be in hot water is Wigan Warriors forward Harvie Hill who was sent off for the reserves for a tackle that left St Helens man Joel Kilgannon stretchered off.

Hill will have an even longer wait than everyone else as the disciplinary verdict for reserves games come on Thursdays.
